Let me start by saying this 10-in-1 cloth fishing game is ADORABLE! The bright colors immediately caught my toddler's attention when we unboxed it. The set includes 15 velcro fish, 5 stackable buckets, a mini fishing pole, and an ocean mat that doubles as storage - genius!
The GOOD:
- The velcro fishing system works surprisingly well! My 18-month-old could actually catch fish after some practice, and the proud grin on her face was priceless.
- Love the educational aspects: color sorting (each bucket matches fish colors), counting (different quantities per color), and size differentiation with the nesting cups.
- Super portable! The mat becoming a storage bag is a game-changer for playdates or car rides.
- Quality materials - soft felt fish survived my teething toddler's chewing phase without damage.
The NOT-SO-GOOD:
- Age recommendation feels off. Fishing requires coordination most 1-year-olds don't have yet (better for 18mo+).
- The fishing pole is quite short - works for tiny hands but limits play range.
- Some kids (like one reviewer's) might not take to the fishing concept right away.
PRO TIP: We turned bath time into learning time by using the cups (which have drainage holes!) to practice pouring and floating the fish. The velcro doesn't work wet, but it sparked new ways to play.
While not perfect, this set offers WAY more developmental value than most toddler toys. It grows with your child - starting as simple grasping/chewing toys, then color sorting, eventually progressing to counting games. Worth every penny for the hours of engaged play we've gotten!
