Let me start by saying this thermostat wasn't my first choice - I actually got it through my AC company who swears by it. And after using it for a while, I can see why they recommend it... mostly.
The installation was smooth (thanks to my HVAC guys), and the WiFi setup was surprisingly painless. I love how the display clearly shows which mode it's in - Wake, Away, Home or Sleep. Though personally, I wish they'd used more intuitive labels like Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night.
Here's where things get frustrating: the scheduling system. You're stuck with identical timing for both heating and cooling cycles. In my house, we need different schedules for heat vs AC, but this thermostat forces them to sync. And with only 4 time periods? That feels limiting compared to competitors offering 6-8 periods.
But there's one brilliant feature that almost makes up for these flaws: temporary overrides. When I adjust the temperature manually, I can set exactly when it should revert back to the schedule - no waiting for the next programmed period. This has saved me so many times when unexpected weather changes hit.
The real test came during a power outage last week. To my relief, it reconnected to WiFi instantly when power returned - something my AC company promised but I was skeptical about.
Would I recommend it? With reservations. If you need simple scheduling and reliable performance, yes. But if you want advanced programming flexibility or expect great customer support (based on horror stories I've read), look elsewhere.
