Let me start by saying this little box packs a punch! The G1 Smart TV Box running Android 11 is one of the most responsive streaming devices I've used. The quad-core processor handles everything from 4K streaming to gaming without breaking a sweat.
The setup was incredibly simple - just plug in power, connect to WiFi (the Wi-Fi 6 support is fantastic), and you're ready to go. I particularly love how snappy the interface feels compared to older Android TV boxes.
Picture quality is where this device really shines. The 4K HDR support with Dolby Vision makes movies look absolutely stunning. I tested it with Netflix and Disney+, and the colors just pop off the screen. The AV1 decoding ensures smooth playback even with high-bitrate content.
Storage is more than adequate with 32GB - I've loaded it up with apps and still have plenty of room. The Google Play Store access means you're not limited like with some other streaming devices.
Now for the not-so-great parts: Like other reviewers mentioned, Hulu simply doesn't work properly on this Android TV version. It's frustrating because everything else works flawlessly. Also, while the remote is functional, it feels a bit cheap compared to the premium build of the box itself.
The voice control via Google Assistant works well for basic commands, though it's not as refined as dedicated smart speakers. Still, being able to say "Hey Google, play Stranger Things on Netflix" and have it work most of the time is pretty cool.
If you're looking for a powerful Android TV box that gives you more flexibility than a Fire Stick or Roku (and don't mind troubleshooting occasional app issues), this is definitely worth considering. Just be aware of the Hulu limitation before buying if that's important to you.
