After weeks of research and comparing models, I finally pulled the trigger on the Metabo 5" angle grinder. Right out of the box, this thing screams German engineering—solid, no-nonsense, and built like a tank. The weight (it’s hefty!) actually gives me confidence—this isn’t some flimsy tool that’ll tap out mid-job.
The 13.5 AMP motor is a beast. Cutting through stainless steel or grinding down rusted bolts feels effortless, even under load. The variable speed dial (2,800–9,600 RPM) is a game-changer—slowing it down for wire wheeling or buffing extends disc life, while cranking it up tackles concrete like butter.
I love the simplicity: no gimmicky quick-change systems (just a sturdy spanner wrench and arbor lock) and a locking switch instead of an annoying paddle trigger. The gear housing even rotates 90° for left-handed use—genius for tight spots.
One gripe? The cord protector feels cheaper than older Metabos I’ve handled. But after hosing mine down post-concrete work (yes, it survived!), I’m convinced this grinder’s durability outweighs minor cost-cutting.
If you’re debating battery vs. corded—go corded. My Makita battery grinder collects dust now. For serious metalwork or stone cutting, this Metabo is worth every penny.
