Let me start by saying this little black cylinder surprised the heck out of me. The MIATONE Boom Pro looks like a tallboy beer can but sounds like something twice its price. I've been using it daily for three weeks - in the shower (thanks IPX7 rating), during backyard BBQs, and even as my morning alarm replacement.
The Good Stuff:
- That 36W dual driver setup delivers shockingly clear audio. I A/B tested it against my friend's JBL Flip 6 and... let's just say he wasn't happy about the comparison results
- The bass radiators aren't just for show - you can actually feel them vibrating against your palm during bass-heavy tracks
- Battery life is insane. I got 22 hours at 50% volume with lights off (yes, I timed it)
- USB-C charging means no more fumbling with micro-USB cables in the dark
Not-So-Good Stuff:
- Those pulsing RGB lights are cool for about 5 minutes before they become battery vampires (thankfully you can disable them)
- At max volume outdoors, bass starts to thin out - but what do you expect from something this size?
- The auto-shutoff feature is sometimes too aggressive when listening at low volumes
Pro Tip: Place it near a corner or wall - the passive radiators interact with surfaces to create surprisingly room-filling sound. I use mine in the bathroom tile corner for shower concerts that would make Freddie Mercury proud.
For $40? Absolute steal. Just don't expect earth-shaking sub-bass - this isn't a nightclub system. But for crystal clear mids/highs and punchy portable bass, the MIATONE Boom Pro might be the best budget Bluetooth speaker I've tested this year.
