Okay, so I just finished Hawke from the Cold Fury series and WOW. I'm still emotionally compromised. Sawyer Bennett really knows how to wreck me with these hockey romances!
First off - that cover? *chef's kiss* The man looks like he could skate straight out of the book and into my DMs. But let's talk about the actual story inside.
Hawke and Vale's second chance romance had me in a CHOKEHOLD. The way they reunite after seven years when she joins his hockey team? The tension? The unresolved feelings? I was screaming into my pillow at 2 AM.
What I loved most was how real their conflict felt. It wasn't some silly misunderstanding - these were two people who genuinely hurt each other and had to work through that pain. When Vale finally drops the 'I love you' bomb? My heart STOPPED.
Also can we appreciate how Hawke transforms from this party-hard athlete to someone willing to be vulnerable again? That character growth had me SWOONING.
The only downside? Now I have to wait for Max's story while simultaneously wanting to reread this one immediately. If you love sports romances with depth, humor, and serious heat - this is your next obsession.
