Just finished Gunsmoke Legend and wow, what a ride! Ben Bridges absolutely nails the gritty, action-packed vibe of classic westerns. The friendship between Ash Colter and legendary gunfighter Jack Page feels so authentic - like I was right there in the saloons and dusty trails with them.
The pacing is perfect - never a dull moment between bar brawls, Indian battles, and those classic western standoffs. Some scenes actually had me holding my breath! Though fair warning: don't get too attached to certain characters... this is the brutal Old West after all.
What really surprised me was how affordable this was compared to other westerns I've bought (looking at you, overpriced Elmore Leonard editions stuffed with ads!). At this price point, it's an absolute steal for western fans.
The only minor gripe? I wish Ash had been more of the 'lead dog' throughout - sometimes Jack Page overshadowed him a bit too much. But that's just personal preference. Already downloaded Book 2 - can't wait to continue Ash's journey!
If you're craving authentic western action with complex characters and unpredictable twists, saddle up with this one. Yeehaw!
