Let me start by saying, these cymbals are GORGEOUS. The brilliant finish catches the light in a way that makes your drum kit look like it costs twice as much. When I first unboxed them, I couldn't stop admiring how they shimmered under stage lights.
The sound? Absolutely killer. That German engineering isn't just marketing speak - these babies deliver crisp, bright tones that cut through even the heaviest guitar distortion. My bandmates actually commented on how much clearer my cymbal work became after switching to this set.
What surprised me most was the dynamic range. Playing jazz? Gentle taps produce beautiful musical tones. Switching to metal? These can take a beating and project like crazy without turning into noise pollution. The 20" ride's bell has become my secret weapon - that ping is pure ear candy.
Durability has been impressive too. After six months of regular gigging (including some outdoor shows), they still look and sound fresh with just basic maintenance. The B12 bronze alloy definitely lives up to its reputation.
The included 18" crash was a pleasant surprise - it adds so much versatility to the set right out of the box. Though I'll admit, like another reviewer mentioned, I did end up buying the 18" China trash separately because once you hear how responsive these are, you want MORE.
If I had to nitpick: they run slightly darker than some might expect from "brilliant" cymbals (especially the smaller pieces), and yeah Meinl, throw in a sticker next time! But at this price point for German-made quality? These are hands-down the best value pro-level cymbals I've played.
