Okay, so I've been using this Blink doorbell for a full year now - long enough to give you the real scoop beyond those 'just unboxed' reviews.
The video quality is decent for a 1080p doorbell. It's not going to win any cinematography awards, but it gets the job done. Dollar for dollar, this might be one of the better budget options out there.
Now let's talk about the elephant in the room - motion alerts are SLOW. Like 'I could make coffee before getting a notification' slow. My workaround? Using Alexa routines with my Echo Show - for some reason that's lightning fast (tech magic, I guess).
Battery life claims? Yeah... about that. Blink says up to 2 years? In reality, even with premium lithium batteries and all features dialed down, I'm getting maybe 6 months max. The sync module helps somewhat, but don't believe the hype.
The subscription model is annoying - too many features are paywalled. But if you just want basic doorbell functionality (seeing/talking to visitors), it works fine without paying extra.
Installation was stupid easy though - no wires needed! I actually bought a second one to use as a security camera (shh... don't tell Blink). It's survived rain, snow, and freezing temps like a champ.
Bottom line: It's not perfect, but for the price? Solid choice if you can work around its quirks. I'm buying another one - that says something!
