Let me start by saying these pink flap discs have become my go-to for all sorts of grinding projects. The zirconia construction is no joke - they bite into materials aggressively yet leave a surprisingly smooth finish. I recently used the 40-grit discs to prep some rusty metal gates, and they ate through the corrosion like butter.
The variety in this set is perfect. The 60-grit became my favorite for general weld cleanup, while the 120-grit works wonders for final smoothing before painting. I was skeptical about the pink color at first (it does stand out in my toolbox), but the performance quickly won me over.
Where these discs really shine is on mixed-material projects. When restoring an old wooden workbench with metal fittings, I could switch between sanding wood and grinding metal without changing tools. The fiberglass backing holds up much better than cheaper plastic-core discs I've used before.
A few things to note: They do wear faster when you're really bearing down on hard metals. I learned to let the disc do the work instead of forcing it. Also, while they're great for surface work, don't expect them to replace heavy-duty grinding wheels for serious material removal.
The value here is outstanding. Getting twelve quality discs with different grits means I'm always prepared for whatever project comes up next in my workshop. For the price, they outperform many brand-name options I've tried.
