Let me start by saying this book had me hooked from the first coffee shop meet-cute! The chemistry between free-spirited Ashley and uptight billionaire doctor Jake is electric. Their accidental drink spill encounter and subsequent wedding run-in had me grinning like a fool - talk about fate playing its hand.
The medical drama surrounding Ashley's father's heart transplant added unexpected depth. As someone with personal experience in this area (shoutout to organ donors - real-life heroes!), those scenes hit particularly hard. The emotional weight balanced beautifully with the steamy romance.
Now for the not-so-great: the editing issues nearly gave me whiplash. Duplicated words, missing words, and awkward phrasing ('he reached out his harm' instead of 'arm') kept pulling me out of the story. The doctor's inconsistent British-ish accent was confusing too - was he supposed to be posh or just poorly proofread?
The villain Liz deserves special mention - her scheming was so over-the-top vicious it made my blood boil (in that love-to-hate way). Though I'm still salty we never got closure on her storyline - did she face consequences or just vanish into the fictional abyss?
While some character transitions felt abrupt (surfing queen revelation, really?), the core romance delivers exactly what you want from this trope: witty banter, smoking-hot encounters, and enough drama to keep pages turning. Just maybe keep your editor's number handy for the sequels.
