Let me start by saying that installing the Drive-up Club Car Forward and Reverse Shifter Assembly Kit was mostly straightforward. The package arrived with all promised components - the shifter assembly, four nuts, and four Phillips screws. The initial installation process went smoothly following the instructions to flip the tow/run switch off before starting.
The good news first: The shifter mechanism itself works perfectly fine once installed. I appreciated that it came pre-adjusted to a good angle as advertised, saving me time on initial setup. The metal construction feels sturdy enough for regular golf cart use, and it does its primary job of switching between forward and reverse gears effectively.
However, I ran into the exact same issue mentioned in other reviews regarding the yellow cam. Despite claims of being pre-adjusted, the cam position simply wouldn't work correctly with my micro switch lever. After frustrating attempts to adjust it myself, I ultimately had to reuse my original yellow cam - which defeats part of the purpose of buying a complete assembly kit.
On a positive note, all other components fit perfectly and function well with my 1994 Club Car DS gas model. The included hardware made installation simple, and I didn't encounter any issues with stripped screws or poor threading like some aftermarket parts sometimes have.
Would I recommend this? With reservations. If you're comfortable potentially reusing your original cam (like I had to), then yes - it's a decent upgrade for worn shifters. But if you need a completely plug-and-play solution without any modifications, you might want to look elsewhere or be prepared for some tinkering.
