I recently got my hands on the GuangWei 5PCS Fishing Lures Kit, and after putting it through its paces in both freshwater and saltwater scenarios, I've got some thoughts to share.
The good stuff first: These lures have fantastic action in the water. The topwater movement is incredibly realistic, and I've had great success triggering strikes from bass and pike in freshwater. The variety of colors means you're covered for different water conditions and times of day.
Where these lures really shine is their durability. Unlike some cheaper alternatives I've used, the paint jobs hold up well against toothy fish and repeated casts. The included hooks are razor sharp right out of the package - a nice touch that saved me time sharpening before my first outing.
Now for the reality check: As noted in other reviews, the stock hardware isn't quite up to serious saltwater use. When targeting stronger species like roosterfish or snapper, I found myself replacing the split rings and trebles with heavier-duty versions (a quick but necessary modification).
The color patterns are generally effective, though I agree with other anglers that some choices like the orange belly on blue sardine pattern could be more natural-looking. At under $4 per lure though, you're getting solid value - especially considering how well they perform after simple upgrades.
Bottom line: For freshwater anglers, these are ready-to-fish right out of the box. Saltwater enthusiasts will want to budget for upgraded hardware. Either way, you're getting versatile lures that catch fish at a reasonable price point.
