I recently swapped out my original SRAM brake pads for these Jagwire organic pads, and the experience has been... interesting. Installation was a breeze—they fit perfectly into my Guide RSC brakes, and the red finish adds a subtle flair to my bike.
On dry trails, these pads deliver decent stopping power with smooth modulation. They feel predictable when feathering downhill sections, but don’t expect aggressive bite like sintered pads. That said, after a long descent, I noticed some fading—organic compounds just can’t handle extreme heat as well. If you’re a lightweight rider or stick to mild terrain, this won’t be an issue.
Noise is where things get quirky. Unlike reviews claiming silence, mine developed a sporadic metallic vibration (think angry bee in a tin can) even in bone-dry SoCal conditions. Crossing streams? Prepare for operatic squeals until they dry out. Oddly, wet-weather performance mirrored my old sintered pads—same howls, just in a different musical key.
For casual rides or budget-conscious replacements, these work fine. But if you’re tackling enduro lines or weigh over 180lbs like me, spend extra on SRAM sintered pads. The Jagwires didn’t fail me catastrophically, but that mid-descent ‘are-my-pads-disintegrating?’ paranoia isn’t worth the savings.
Final verdict: Solid for dry trail cruising; underwhelming for aggressive use. That red finish though? Chef’s kiss.
