Let's talk about Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. As a long-time fan, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this 4K UHD release. The moment I saw that iconic fedora in the trailer, I was transported back to my childhood. Harrison Ford's performance is as charming as ever, even if he's noticeably older this time around.
The 4K transfer is absolutely stunning. The opening WWII train sequence with de-aged Indy looks incredible - though there are a couple shots where the CGI is slightly noticeable if you're looking for flaws. The colors pop, and the HDR makes those desert scenes really shine.
Where this movie shines is in its nostalgic callbacks. Seeing Sallah and Marion return brought a genuine smile to my face. The action sequences (while sometimes running too long) deliver that classic Indy feel - especially an amazing tuk-tuk chase through Tangier that might be my favorite set piece.
However, I can't ignore the flaws. Some plot points feel rushed or unresolved (that murder accusation subplot just disappears!). The time travel element, while fun, stretches believability even for an Indy film. And yes, an 80-year-old Indy surviving some of these stunts requires serious suspension of disbelief.
The special features are decent but not exhaustive - I would've loved more behind-the-scenes on how they created young Indy. Still, hearing James Mangold discuss taking over from Spielberg is fascinating.
As a physical media collector, I'm happy with this purchase despite its imperfections. It's not Raiders-level perfect, but it's miles better than Crystal Skull and gives our favorite archaeologist a mostly satisfying sendoff. Just don't think too hard about those plot holes!
