Okay, so I just got this beautiful mahogany lyre harp and I'm OBSESSED. The wood grain is gorgeous and it came with this super protective case that has pockets for all the accessories (which, btw, there are TONS).
The sound? Absolutely magical. Like straight out of a fantasy novel. Though fair warning - tuning is a PROCESS. The strings take a few days to settle in and I may have snapped one during my first tuning attempt (thank god for the extra strings!).
As someone who plays guitar, I was surprised by how different this feels. The hollow body gives such rich resonance, and the engraved string letters above each one are genius for beginners. Though I wish the manual had more playing tips - YouTube has been my real teacher here.
After about a week of playing around, I can now manage some simple melodies that make me feel like an ancient bard. It's become my new stress-reliever - there's something so therapeutic about plucking those strings.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a unique instrument, but be prepared for some patience with tuning and string maintenance!
