Let me start by saying I've been using the Famiware Mercury set for about three months now, and overall, I'm impressed. The charcoal speckled design is absolutely gorgeous - it adds a touch of elegance to my dining table that makes even Tuesday night spaghetti feel fancy.
The weight of these dishes is the first thing you'll notice when unboxing. They're substantial without being overly heavy, giving them a premium feel that cheaper sets just can't match. I particularly appreciate how the plates stay put during meals - no more chasing my salad around the plate!
Durability has been excellent so far. Despite daily use (and a few accidental drops onto my tile floor), there are no chips or cracks. The glaze has held up well in both the microwave and dishwasher, though I have noticed some very light utensil marks after particularly vigorous cutting sessions.
The bowls are my favorite part of the set. At 5.5 inches, they're perfect for cereal, ice cream, or sides - though if you're a big soup fan, you might find them slightly small for main courses.
Now for the not-so-perfect bits: The stacking issue mentioned in other reviews is real. These don't nest neatly like some dishes do, which can be annoying if cabinet space is tight. Also, while the vertical edges look sleek and help contain food, they do make stacking less stable.
Would I recommend them? Absolutely - especially if you value style and sturdiness over perfect functionality in every aspect. They've completely upgraded my everyday dining experience.
