After years of using various smart thermostats, I decided to give the LEVOIT Smart Thermostat a try, and overall, it's been a positive experience. The installation was straightforward, especially since I took pictures of my old thermostat's wiring beforehand. The sleek design looks modern on my wall, and the touchscreen is responsive.
One of the standout features is the ability to set both heating and cooling to 'Auto' mode. Living in an area with drastic temperature swings, this has been a game-changer. No more manually switching between modes—the thermostat handles it seamlessly.
The VeSync app integration works flawlessly, even with my slightly complicated WiFi setup (hidden network, MAC filtering). Firmware updates were smooth, and the app makes scheduling routines a breeze. I also appreciate the energy reports, which help me track usage and adjust for savings.
However, there are a few quirks. The display turns off completely after inactivity, which is frustrating when I just want to glance at the temperature from across the room. A dimmed standby mode would be a welcome firmware update. The font size for non-temperature text is also smaller than I'd like.
I did encounter an odd issue where the blower motor seems to 'rev up' twice when cooling starts. LEVOIT's support suggested reinstalling my old Honeywell adapter, but that didn't resolve it. This makes me slightly concerned about long-term HVAC impact.
The included C-wire adapter worked perfectly in my setup (replacing an older Honeywell module), but some users report compatibility issues with certain wiring configurations (like E or O/B wires). Definitely check your system specs before purchasing.
While it's not perfect, the LEVOIT offers great value compared to premium brands like Nest or Ecobee—especially if you're already in their ecosystem with air purifiers or humidifiers. With some firmware tweaks (display behavior, font size), this could be a top-tier option.
