Just installed the PumpSpy Freeze Protection and wow, what a difference it makes! Living in Michigan, frozen discharge lines used to be my nightmare. This thing is like a little guardian angel for my sump pump.
The installation was stupid easy - literally just glued it onto my existing PVC pipes. Took maybe 15 minutes while drinking my morning coffee. No fancy tools or plumbing degrees required.
First real test came during last week's ice storm when temps dropped to -10°F. Woke up to find water actually flowing out instead of ice dams forming. That alone was worth every penny.
Love how rugged this feels too. The PVC is thick enough that I accidentally dropped it during install (oops) and not even a scratch. Way sturdier than those flimsy corrugated pipes I was using before.
Only gripe? The bottom connection was slightly tight with my 3" pipe setup. Had to do some gentle persuading with a rubber mallet, but nothing major. After that it's been smooth sailing.
For anyone tired of chipping ice off their discharge line at 3AM, just get this thing already. My basement has never been drier in winter!
