Okay, so I finally caved and bought the Cloudlifter CL-2 for my Shure SM7B setup. Let me tell you - this little box is MAGIC.
Before this, my Focusrite Scarlett was crying trying to power the SM7B. Now? Crystal clear vocals at just 60% gain. No more noise, no more straining my interface. Just pure, clean amplification.
The build quality surprised me - it's got some nice weight to it. Feels premium, like it could survive a studio drop (not that I'm testing that theory).
Setup was stupid simple: mic → Cloudlifter → interface → profit. Though heads up - you'll need an extra XLR cable they don't include.
Only weird thing? Keep your phone away during recording. Got some interference when texts came in. But move it a few feet away and we're golden.
Seriously, if you're running a dynamic mic and debating this - just do it. Worth every penny for that professional sound without maxing out your preamps.
