I've been using the Honoson 20 Pcs Heavy Tension Planer Board Release Clips for a few weeks now, and they're definitely a mixed bag. On one hand, they're lightweight and easy to carry, which is great for long fishing trips. The ABS plastic feels sturdy enough, and I haven't noticed any corrosion yet.
Where these clips shine is when you find that 'sweet spot' in tension adjustment. Once dialed in correctly, they hold dypsy divers securely and release smoothly with one hand. I particularly like using them for quick gear changes when switching between different setups.
However, there's a frustratingly narrow margin between too loose (where they won't lock at all) and too tight (where you need pliers to open them). I've lost a few good catches because the clip suddenly released when it shouldn't have.
The biggest issue is consistency - some clips in the pack work perfectly while others seem defective right out of the package. About 30% of mine either won't stay closed or require excessive force to open.
For the price, they're decent if you're willing to sort through the pack to find the good ones. Just don't expect all 20 to perform equally well. They work best as backup clips rather than primary gear.
