Let me start by saying this TCL QM7 series is a game-changer for mid-range TVs. The 4K resolution paired with QD-Mini LED technology delivers stunning picture quality that rivals TVs twice its price.
The local dimming with 1,500+ zones creates incredible contrast - I was shocked watching dark scenes in Stranger Things where I could actually see details in shadows that were just black voids on my old TV.
Gaming performance is where this really shines. The 120Hz refresh rate combined with near-instant response time in Game Mode makes it perfect for next-gen consoles. Playing Spider-Man 2 on my PS5 felt like I was swinging through an actual NYC.
The built-in soundbar with Dolby Atmos is surprisingly good for a TV speaker system. While serious audiophiles will want separate speakers, most users will find the audio more than adequate - explosions have real punch and dialogue stays clear.
Setup was ridiculously easy. I had it mounted and running in under 30 minutes by myself. The Google TV interface is intuitive and responsive, though the remote's mushy buttons take some getting used to.
My biggest complaint? The default Eco Mode makes the picture look terrible. First thing you should do is turn it off - the difference is night and day. Also wish TCL would commit to longer software support cycles.
At around $700, this represents incredible value. You're getting premium features (Mini-LED, high refresh rate, Dolby Vision/Atmos) that were $2,000+ features just a couple years ago. For anyone upgrading from an older TV, the improvement will blow you away.
