Let me start by saying, this little orange cube is a TANK. After mounting it on my freestyle drone and enduring multiple crashes (including one from 300ft!), the RunCam 5 Orange kept recording like nothing happened. The fact that it survived an impact that cracked my SD card in half speaks volumes about its durability.
The 4K footage from the Sony IMX377 sensor is crisp, especially for its size. I love using it for FPV drone footage - the colors pop and the wide 145° FOV captures everything. That said, don't expect GoPro-level stabilization; the EIS is mediocre at best. I typically turn it off and stabilize in post with GyroFlow instead.
Setup via QR codes through the RunCam app is genius - no squinting at tiny screens in sunlight. Battery life impresses too: I consistently get ~100 mins of 4K recording, which outlasts most flying sessions.
Two gripes: The USB port feels flimsy (some users report charging issues after heavy use), and advertised bitrates don't always match real-world performance. Still, for $115, you're getting Session-like quality in a nearly indestructible package perfect for drones, RC cars, or any activity where weight matters.
Pro tip: Slap on a urethane sleeve if you're really going to abuse it. This camera's become my go-to for risky shots where I'd never risk a pricier GoPro.
