From the moment I unboxed this journal, the rich leather smell transported me to an old-world library. The 7x5 inch size is perfect for tossing into my backpack, yet substantial enough to feel important in my hands.
The parchment paper has this wonderful creamy texture that makes my fountain pen glide like butter. I've filled nearly half the pages already with travel sketches and midnight poetry, and not once has the ink bled through - even when I got a little too enthusiastic with my watercolors.
That leather strap closure isn't just for show either. During my last camping trip, it kept all my notes secure when my bag took an unexpected tumble down a hillside (don't ask). The binding does require some getting used to - I've learned to wedge my knee under it when writing at outdoor cafes.
What surprised me most was how the journal seems to inspire better writing. There's something about that rustic look that makes me want to write more thoughtfully than in my previous lined notebooks. My grocery lists have somehow transformed into haikus.
The only real downside is that it's almost too beautiful - I find myself hesitating before making the first mark on each fresh page. But once you start, the thick paper and vintage aesthetic make every word feel worth preserving.
