Okay, so I finally got my hands on these stripping discs after hearing all the hype. Let me break it down for you based on my experience.
The Good: These things are absolute beasts at removing paint and rust! I used them on an old metal cabinet and they stripped layers of paint like butter. The perforated design really helps with heat buildup - no more melted paint smearing everywhere.
Surface Friendly: Unlike wire wheels that can gouge metal, these actually leave the surface intact while removing all the gunk. Major win when working on delicate projects.
Wear & Tear: They do wear down faster than I expected (went through about 2 discs for a medium-sized project), but at this price point, it's totally acceptable. Just buy extra if you have big jobs.
Safety Note: Holy flying debris, Batman! These things sling particles everywhere - safety glasses are NOT optional. Work outdoors if possible.
The Not-So-Good: Had some issues with residue on one disc (weird purple stuff), but it was only one out of twelve. Also not great for tight corners - stick to flat surfaces.
Final Verdict: For the price? Absolutely worth it. They've replaced my wire wheels for most jobs. Just know their limitations and wear your PPE!
