Let me start by saying the Ezlo Plus Smart Home Hub has been a game-changer for my smart home setup. The ability to control Z-Wave, Zigbee, and Wi-Fi devices all from one hub is incredibly convenient. Setting up my Yale lock, indoor camera, and Honeywell thermostat was surprisingly easy after a short learning curve.
The automation features are where this hub really shines. I've got my outdoor lights programmed to only turn on from sundown to sunup at 40% brightness - no more lighting up the whole neighborhood! The motion alerts from my garage camera keep me informed about when my kids come and go (though I did have to adjust notification times to avoid being overwhelmed).
However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Like some other reviewers, I've experienced frustrating network drops where devices randomly disconnect for no apparent reason. The response time through Alexa can be painfully slow - sometimes Alexa says a device isn't responding right before it finally kicks in.
The dual-app system (Ezlo app + Vera app) is confusing and feels unnecessarily complicated. After three months of smooth operation, my hub suddenly stopped communicating with some devices, forcing me to rebuild automations from scratch.
On the plus side, customer support seems responsive based on others' experiences, though I haven't needed to contact them personally. The compact size is a definite advantage over bulkier competitors.
Bottom line: When it works, it's fantastic for creating a unified smart home experience. But be prepared for occasional headaches and the possibility of having to troubleshoot connection issues down the road.
