I recently tried the Crystal Coating for my car's plastic parts, hoping to revive the dull trim and bumpers. The promise of an easy, glossy finish in just three steps sounded too good to pass up.
First impressions? The application process was indeed simple—just wipe it on with a sponge. No fancy tools or skills needed. I loved that part. But here’s where things got tricky: the results were inconsistent. On my door handles and side mirrors, it added a subtle shine, making them look refreshed. However, the bumper trim barely changed, even after multiple applications.
I noticed the coating worked better on smoother surfaces, like interior trim, where it left a nice sheen. But for heavily weathered exterior parts? Not so much. It didn’t magically 'restore black' as advertised—more like a temporary gloss-up.
Durability is another question mark. After two weeks (and some rain), the shine on the door handles faded faster than I’d hoped. Maybe six months is achievable under garage-kept conditions, but my daily driver? Doubtful.
Verdict: It’s handy for quick touch-ups on minor areas but don’t expect miracles on severely faded plastic. For the price, it’s decent—but temper your expectations.
