Let me tell you about my love-hate relationship with the DJI Action 2. This little square camera has become my daily companion, but it's not without its frustrations.
The magnetic design is genius - I've stuck it to everything from my bike frame to refrigerator doors for creative angles. The dual screens make framing shots a breeze, though I wish the secondary screen was waterproof like the main unit.
Image quality blew me away. The 4K footage at 120fps is buttery smooth, and the stabilization makes my shaky hands look like professional camerawork. That ultra-wide 155° FOV captures everything - sometimes too much, requiring careful framing.
Now for the elephant in the room: overheating. This camera gets HOT fast, especially in warm environments. I've learned to keep sessions short or drop to lower resolutions when needed. The battery life could be better too - I always carry spares for longer shoots.
The waterproof capability is fantastic for quick dips (up to 10m), though I'm extra careful drying the magnetic contacts after water use to prevent corrosion.
Despite its flaws, I keep reaching for this camera because nothing else offers this combination of quality and portability. It's perfect for POV shots when hiking or biking, and slips easily into any bag.
Would I recommend it? If you can work around its limitations and don't need marathon recording sessions, absolutely. Just wait for a sale - at full price it's hard to justify unless you really need that tiny form factor.
