Okay y'all, I just DEVOURED 'White Hot' in like two days and WOW. Sandra Brown really knows how to mix murder mystery with that slow-burn Southern tension!
First off - Sayre Hoyle is my new favorite badass heroine. Yeah she's prickly, but would YOU be warm and fuzzy after growing up with that nightmare of a father? The chemistry between her and Beck Merchant had me fanning myself - their verbal sparring matches were hotter than a Louisiana summer.
The foundry setting was so atmospheric I could practically smell the molten metal and sweat. Brown does this thing where she makes industrial workplaces feel almost romantic? Weird but it works.
Now about that ending... NO SPOILERS but let's just say I gasped so loud my cat fell off the couch. One twist felt a tiny bit soap-opera dramatic, but I ate it up anyway like sweet tea at a church picnic.
If you want a book that's equal parts family drama, steamy romance, and 'wait WHAT just happened?!' mystery - grab this one immediately. Just maybe don't start reading before bed unless you're okay with being sleep-deprived!
