Just got my hands on the ASUS TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI, and wow—this thing is a powerhouse! I'm not even a hardcore gamer, but as someone who dabbles in video rendering, AI projects, and Linux VMs, this motherboard has been a dream.
First boot? Flawless. Paired it with a Ryzen 9 9900X, 64GB DDR5 RAM, and a Samsung 990 SSD. No hiccups, no drama. Even ran Ubuntu 24.04 from a USB stick to test stability before migrating my Windows 10 image. The WiFi worked perfectly under Ubuntu (though I can't vouch for Windows—I don’t use it there).
The build quality is solid—way beefier than some other B650 boards I’ve seen. The heatsinks are massive (maybe too massive? The rear one blocks a second fan on my Noctua cooler). But hey, temps are great, so no complaints.
SSD installation is... unique. ASUS uses these plastic spring clips instead of screws. Weird at first, but it works! The included M.2 heatsinks keep everything snug and cool.
One quirk: Had to enable CSM mode to boot from my Samsung 990 SSD. Not sure if that’s normal or just my old image being quirky.
Overall? This board is *TUF* in the best way—reliable, packed with features (PCIe 5.0, USB4®, WiFi 6), and built like a tank. Even if you’re not into RGB or "gamer" aesthetics (I’m not), it’s a stellar pick for power users.
