Okay, so I finally caved and bought the GoPro Contacto for my HERO12 after seeing all the hype. Here's my real talk review after 2 weeks of testing:

• The magnetic USB-C connection is GENIUS. No more fumbling with tiny ports when switching batteries mid-adventure. Just snaps into place like magic.

• Waterproof charging actually works! Tested it during a crazy kayak trip and zero issues. Still freaks me out seeing my GoPro charge while submerged though.

• Battery life extension is no joke. Hooked it to a 20,000mAh power bank and filmed a 4-hour hiking timelapse without swapping batteries.

• Heads up - the door takes some getting used to. It's stiffer than the original, but after a few tries I got the hang of that satisfying 'click' when it seals properly.

• Major bummer: Doesn't play nice with most cases. Had to Frankenstein-mod my protective case with an exacto knife (RIP warranty).

At $40 it's pricey for what it is, but man does it solve so many pain points. Worth every penny if you do long recording sessions or hate battery swaps!
