Okay, so I finally got these Tohiasen floating shelves after seeing them all over Pinterest. Here's my honest take:
First off, they're STURDY. Like, 'hold-my-entire-Harry-Potter-collection' sturdy. The metal brackets feel solid and the wood has this nice rustic vibe that somehow works with both my boho bedroom and modern living room.
Installation was stupid easy - took me like 10 minutes per shelf. Though pro tip: use your own screws if you've got tricky walls.
Now the not-so-great part: those elastic bands. They're... noticeable. Like really noticeable. My thin paperbacks look kinda sad hanging there with all this extra strap showing. Works best with chunky hardcovers.
Also got one shelf where the staples were slightly crooked? Not super obvious unless you're OCD like me.
But here's the thing - despite these flaws, I'm OBSESSED. They make my books look like they're magically floating (hence the name, duh). Visitors always comment on them, and they've held up perfectly for 3 months now.
Would I buy again? Absolutely - but maybe just for displaying special edition books rather than my whole collection.
