Just finished this book and wow, what a ride! Anderson Cooper really brings his family's history to life in a way that's both personal and eye-opening.
As someone who loves history but isn't usually into dry biographies, this was perfect. The way Cooper jumps between generations keeps things fresh, though I'll admit sometimes I had to flip back to remember who was who.
The most shocking part? How fast the money disappeared! From richest family in America to... well, not. Makes you think about wealth differently.
My only gripe - wish there was more about how they actually made all that money in the first place. We get lots about how they spent it (those Gilded Age parties sound wild!), but not enough about the business side.
Still, totally recommend for anyone interested in American history or just juicy family dramas. Bonus: the audiobook version is fantastic if you prefer listening!
