I recently tried the TALKSIM prepaid SIM card for my security cameras and GPS tracker, and here's my honest take.
The setup was surprisingly easy - just popped it into my unlocked 4G router, entered the APN settings (unet), and had internet within minutes. The automatic switching between 5G and 4G worked seamlessly when I moved my devices around different locations.
However, the '600MB trial data' situation was confusing. Unlike what I expected from the description, I had to purchase a plan before getting any connectivity. The trial seems to only work after initial activation with a paid plan - not exactly 'plug and play' as advertised.
Performance-wise, when it worked, the speeds were decent for my IoT devices. My security cameras maintained stable connections, though I did notice occasional drops in areas with weaker T-Mobile coverage (which is the underlying network).
The biggest headache came when trying to cancel the auto-renewal. Their support is... let's say challenging to reach. I eventually had to go through my bank to stop recurring charges after multiple failed attempts to contact customer service.
For short-term use or specific IoT applications where you don't mind prepaying for data upfront, this can be a solution. But if you're looking for reliable long-term service with proper support, you might want to consider other options.
