Let me start by saying this watch is packed with features that sound amazing on paper. The 4G connectivity, GPS tracking, and two-way calling had me excited to try it out for my 8-year-old.
The GPS tracking works surprisingly well in open areas - I tested it at the park and could pinpoint my daughter's location within about 20 feet. Indoor tracking via WiFi is decent too, though it depends heavily on your home network strength.
What I love most is the emergency SOS feature. My daughter learned quickly how to press and hold the button, and it immediately called my phone along with two other preset numbers. This alone makes the watch worth considering for safety-conscious parents.
However, there are some significant drawbacks. The requirement for a separate SIM card (not included) adds ongoing costs that weren't immediately obvious. As one reviewer pointed out, this becomes an additional monthly expense just to keep a child's watch functioning.
The video calling quality is mediocre at best - expect pixelated images and occasional lag. It works in a pinch but don't expect smartphone-quality FaceTime alternatives here.
Battery life is another pain point. With regular use (a few calls and constant GPS), you'll need to charge it daily. The IP67 waterproof rating means it can handle splashes but don't let your kid swim with it.
Would I recommend it? If you need reliable location tracking and emergency features, yes - but go in knowing about the extra SIM costs. For casual use, there might be better (and cheaper) options available.
