Okay, so I just finished The Oligarch's Daughter and WOW. Joseph Finder has done it again! This book had me hooked from the very first page.
The story moves at such a fast pace - I literally couldn't put it down. There were times when I had to stop reading just to catch my breath because the suspense was killing me!
What I loved most were the characters. Paul is such a relatable protagonist - he's not some super spy, just a regular guy caught in an insane situation. His mistakes and panicked decisions made him feel so real.
The alternating timelines between past and present worked surprisingly well here. Usually that device annoys me, but Finder makes it flow perfectly.
My only small complaint? The middle section dragged a tiny bit with all the running through woods (seriously, so much forest action). But stick with it because the last 100 pages are absolutely worth it!
If you're looking for a smart, contemporary thriller that feels ripped from today's headlines, this is your book. Now excuse me while I go buy everything else Joseph Finder has written!
