Okay, so I've been using the HiBy R1 for about a month now, and let me tell you - it's been a journey. First off, the sound quality? Absolutely gorgeous. That CS43131 chip delivers crispy clear audio that makes my FLAC files sing. The Bluetooth 5.1 works like a charm with my wireless headphones too.
But here's the thing - this player comes with zero instructions. Like, none. Nada. I had to become some sort of tech detective to figure out basic functions. Want to create a playlist? Good luck figuring that out without my accidental discovery (which I generously shared in my review).
The touchscreen is decently responsive, though typing WiFi passwords using that old-school phone keyboard layout is torture straight from 2005. And don't get me started on the storage situation - no built-in memory means you better have a Micro SD card ready.
Battery life is solid though - getting about 13-14 hours per charge with mixed Bluetooth and wired use. The design is sleek and feels premium in hand, which almost makes up for some of the software quirks.
Would I recommend it? Maybe... if you're patient and tech-savvy enough to figure things out through trial and error. Just don't expect any hand-holding from HiBy's documentation team (because they apparently don't exist).
