Let me start by saying the Psync Genie S camera is packed with features that sound amazing on paper. The 350° pan and 135° tilt give you near-complete room coverage, and the motion tracking works surprisingly well for keeping tabs on pets or kids.
The setup process was a breeze - I had it up and running in under 10 minutes using the Psync app. The two-way audio is crystal clear, making it perfect for soothing my anxious dog when I'm not home. I particularly love the local storage option (no annoying subscriptions!), though I wish they offered cloud backup as an alternative.
Now for the not-so-great parts: The lack of night vision is a MAJOR drawback. Like some reviewers mentioned, you literally can't see anything in the dark unless you keep lights on. For a security camera in this price range, that's unacceptable. Also, while daytime video quality is decent at 2.7K, it's not as sharp as I expected from a 5MP camera.
The motion alerts are hyper-sensitive - my camera notifies me every time my cat blinks! While you can adjust sensitivity, even on lowest settings it still picks up minor movements. On the plus side, Alexa integration works flawlessly for voice commands.
Would I recommend it? If you need basic daytime monitoring and love local storage, maybe. But if night vision is important to you (as it should be for most security needs), keep looking.
