Okay, so I finally caved and imported this Australian Region B Blu-ray of Kurosawa's Ran, and wow - that 4K restoration is STUNNING. The colors in the battle scenes? Absolutely insane.

Heads up though - this is NOT region-free! My regular US player rejected it (cue sad trombone). Had to dig out my old multi-region player, but honestly? Worth the hassle.

Packaging arrived perfect despite the long journey from Australia. No dents, no scratches - just that beautiful Criterion-level quality we all love.

Bonus: The included booklet has some fantastic essays about Kurosawa's use of color that I haven't seen in other editions. Nerdy film student me is very happy.
