Okay, so I wasn't expecting much when my partner dragged this game out for family night. 'A history board game? Really?' But dang, was I wrong.
The cards are GORGEOUS – like, museum-worthy art. And the little historical tidbits? Surprisingly fascinating. My 12-year-old niece who usually zones out during game night was actually reading them aloud and asking questions. Who knew?
Gameplay is simple enough that my non-gamer parents caught on immediately, but there's actually some real strategy involved. That 'time warp' mini-expansion adds just enough spice to keep it interesting for us board game snobs.
Production quality is insane – neoprene mat? Functional insert? This feels like one of those fancy Kickstarter games that costs $200. The fact that everything has its perfect place in the box is just *chef's kiss*.
Only downside: After five plays in two weeks, my family might be getting sick of it. But hey, that's a good problem to have!
