Let me start by saying, if you're serious about audio quality, the B&W Formation Audio is a game-changer. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and it's transformed how I listen to music at home.
The sound quality is simply stunning. The 24-bit/96kHz streaming delivers crystal-clear audio that makes my old setup sound like a tin can. The bass is deep and punchy without being overwhelming - perfect for both classical and electronic music.
Setting it up was... interesting. Like some reviewers mentioned, the documentation is sparse. It took me about 20 minutes of fiddling with the app to get everything working smoothly. Once set up though, the multi-room functionality works flawlessly.
The build quality is premium - it looks and feels expensive (because it is). The lack of included power cord was annoying though - at this price point, that's just cheap.
Compared to my friend's Sonos system, the Formation Audio wins hands down in sound quality. The soundstage is wider, details are sharper, and there's no distortion even at high volumes.
A word of warning about Alexa compatibility: it's not built-in like I initially thought. You'll need an existing Alexa device to control it through voice commands.
If you can afford it and don't mind the setup hassle, this streamer will take your home audio to professional levels. Just be prepared to spend some extra on accessories they should have included.
