As someone who's dabbled in crochet for years, I was excited to try the 'Easy Crochet Bookmark' guide. Unfortunately, the experience left me more tangled than my yarn.
The black-and-white photos made it impossible to distinguish stitch details. I found myself squinting at grainy images, trying to guess whether that blurry line was a single or double crochet. Not exactly the 'easy' experience promised in the title.
The instructions read like they were written by someone who assumes everyone has decades of crochet experience. Steps that needed detailed explanations were glossed over, while obvious basics were oddly over-explained.
My attempt at the 'adorable owl bookmark' turned into a lopsided blob that my cat won't even play with. The only pattern I successfully completed was the simplest one - and even that took three tries with help from YouTube tutorials.
Save your money unless you're already an expert who can crochet blindfolded. For beginners, this book will likely end up as a bookmark itself - holding your place in a better crochet guide.
