Okay, so I finally tried this chair exercise DVD after hearing mixed reviews. Here’s my take:
First off, the instructor is legit—she’s a nurse who knows her stuff. The moves are simple and repetitive, which is great for beginners or folks with arthritis. But heads up: you’ll need a small tennis ball and a kid’s ball for some exercises (not mentioned on the cover—annoying!).
I got overexcited and did two sessions back-to-back… bad idea. My knee (with a partial replacement) was NOT happy the next day. Lesson learned: pace yourself! The workouts are gentle but can still strain problem areas if you overdo it.
The good? The instructor keeps it engaging by switching moves frequently—no boredom here. My mom (62 with back issues) loves it too. But the DVD freezing issue? Ugh. It resets to the beginning instead of where it froze. Also, that cheesy background music needs to go.
Biggest gripe: Some segments involve standing/lunges despite being marketed as ‘chair-only.’ If you’re avoiding weight on your knees (like me), that’s misleading.
Verdict: Solid for gentle movement, but flawed execution. 3/5 stars.
