Okay, so I caved and got the myFirst Fone S3 for my 8-year-old after weeks of begging. Here's the real tea ☕️
The GPS tracking is LEGIT. I can see my kid's location in real-time, which is awesome when she's at soccer practice. The geo-fencing alerts work perfectly too.
BUT...the setup? Absolute nightmare fuel 🤯 The instructions might as well be written in hieroglyphics. Took me 3 hours and two glasses of wine to figure it out.
The app interface looks like it was designed by someone who's never used a smartphone before. Half the buttons don't do what you think they'll do, and there are SO many typos. Like, did no one proofread this?
My daughter loves the video calls (though they're limited to 5 mins), but texting her friends? Forget about it. The proprietary messaging system is social suicide for a tween.
Battery life is...meh. Gets through a school day if you're lucky, but definitely not the advertised 16 hours unless you turn EVERYTHING off.
Final verdict? It does the job for basic safety features, but be prepared for some serious frustration. Maybe wait for version 2.0 if you can.
