Just finished Night Road and wow... my heart is still recovering. This book had me sobbing into my tea at 2AM. As a mom of twins myself, some scenes felt like emotional gut punches - but in that beautiful, cathartic way only Kristin Hannah can deliver.
The story starts feeling predictable (teen drama, tragic accident) but then BAM - twists I never saw coming! The way grief transforms each character differently? Masterfully done. That one character I hated at first? By the end I was ugly-crying for them.
Pro tip: Have tissues ready. Like, a whole box. The mother's grief chapters wrecked me (maybe went on a tad long though). But that ending? Perfect redemption arc that left me staring at the ceiling contemplating life.
100% recommend if you want: Ugly cries ✔️ Complicated family dynamics ✔️ A story that sticks to your ribs for days ✔️ Now excuse me while I order Hannah's entire backlist...
