Okay, confession time – I bought this book thinking it'd just be another pretty coffee table decoration with nice pictures. Boy, was I wrong!
The author's writing makes you feel the Patagonian wind in your hair (and yes, I actually caught myself shivering while reading in my warm apartment). The practical tips are gold – like which mountain trails secretly have the best snack shacks (priorities, people!).
What shocked me most? I've now developed a strange urge to try guanaco meat (page 87, you've been warned). The maps are so detailed I'm convinced the author must have drawn them while hanging off a glacier.
Pro tip: Read with a highlighter – you'll need it. And maybe keep your passport nearby... just in case you get inspired to book a last-minute flight mid-chapter like I almost did!
