Just survived a brutal Colorado winter with this heated hose – here's the real deal!
PROS:
• Ice? What ice? Kept water flowing at -20°F like a champ. No more morning hammer sessions to break frozen pipes!
• Smart thermostat is a game-changer. Set it to kick on at 35°F and shut off at 50°F – saved so much power compared to my old constant-heat hose.
• Surprisingly sturdy for something with wires inside. Backed over it twice (oops) and still works perfectly.
CONS:
• Wiring needs armor – that flimsy rubber around the control box won't survive squirrel attacks. Wrapped mine in split loom tubing.
• Faucet freeze risk – like all heated hoses, it won't heat your spigot. I use an old sock + heat tape combo there.
• Pricey but worth it – cheaper than replacing burst pipes or paying for RV winterization!
BONUS TIP: The included washers are junk – upgrade to silicone ones immediately. Leaked like crazy until I swapped them out.
