Okay, so I finally got my hands on this ELECROW 5-inch resistive touchscreen, and here's the tea ☕.
First off, the display quality? *Chef's kiss* 🤌. The 800x480 resolution is crisp for its size, and colors pop nicely. The resistive touch works surprisingly well with the included stylus (though I keep losing that tiny pen lol).
BUT - and this is a big but - the setup was like solving a Rubik's cube blindfolded . Those online drivers? Trash. Bricked my Pi twice before I figured out the manual config.txt edits (shoutout to random forum heroes).
Pro tip: The touch area doesn't match the screen edges perfectly. Had to tweak calibration files like I was hacking the Matrix. Once dialed in though? Buttery smooth operation.
Bonus: Works with gloves which is dope for my messy workshop projects. Just wish the power consumption was lower - my Pi gets thirsty running this.
Final verdict? 4/5 stars - loses one for the setup headache, but once it's running? Absolute champ for DIY projects.
