I’ve been using the Artesia ABX-1 bench for my daily guitar practice, and it’s been a game-changer. The foldable design means I can stash it in a closet when not in use—no more tripping over bulky furniture in my tiny apartment.
The padding is thicker than I expected for the price. It’s not memory-foam-level plush, but my backside doesn’t go numb during 45-minute practice sessions. The vinyl wipes clean easily when I inevitably spill coffee mid-riff.
Adjusting the height is straightforward—just pop the legs into one of three positions. At 5’9”, I use the middle setting, though taller bandmates wish it went a smidge higher. The rubber feet grip my hardwood floors well, even when I’m really getting into a solo.
Two quirks: 1) The plastic shipping film was annoyingly stapled under the vinyl (I left the remnants rather than risk cutting the material). 2) It creaks like an old porch swing when I shift weight—not ideal for recording sessions but fine for practice.
For $50, it beats my old dining chair in both comfort and portability. Just don’t expect throne-level luxury.
