After 16 years of wearing Keens, I can confidently say the Targhee IIIs are a mixed bag. They're my go-to for daily wear – lightweight, roomy toe box (a godsend for my weird foot shape), and surprisingly grippy soles that've saved me from countless slips on wet trails.
The waterproofing is legit – my feet stayed dry through Florida's swampy hikes and morning dew walks. But here's the kicker: after about 10 months, the material started peeling like a bad sunburn, especially where the toes bend. My second pair did the exact same thing – not a knockoff issue, just questionable glue work.
Comfort? 5 stars. Durability? More like 3. They can't handle my 10km daily grind across beaches and bogs like older Keens used to. Still, when they work, they're magic – just don't expect them to last through apocalypse like the Targhee IIs did.
